Medical Image Analysis by Using CNN Approach
Abstract
Thyroid is an endocrine gland located at the base of the throat anterior to the trachea. The thyroid gland controls
the heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature, and basal metabolic rate. During the past several decades, there has been a
dramatic increase in the number of people diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. Thyroid Cancer is a growth of cells that starts in
the Thyroid Gland. The four main types of thyroid cancer are “Papillary, Follicular, Medullary, and Anaplastic thyroid
cancer”. In this project we use CT (Computed Tomography) scan reports of Thyroid Cancer. The main Aim of our project is
to convert the CT scan report into standard JPG format. Generally, Imaging techniques are used to capture anomalies of the
human body. The captured images must be understood for diagnosis and treatment planning of the anomalies. Image
understanding performed by skilled medical professionals and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) are effective tools
for image understanding. So, in our Project to process the medical report we use CNN Algorithm, RELU activation function
and also to reduce the noise in image we use the filter called Gaussian. A Gaussian Filter is a low pass filter used for
reducing noise and blurring regions of an image.
