Paper Title
Sustainable Stone Masonry Blocks

Abstract
Due to the rapid growth of Indian economy and construction sector, the use of natural resources for manufacturing of conventional construction materials have increased. It is evident that production of conventional materials leads to large scale CO2 emissions. Masonry units form the major fraction of any construction activity, and use of masonry units such as Bricks, Concrete Blocks, Clay Blocks, etc. again lead to enormous pollution.Recent trends have shown huge amount of Industrial and Natural waste materials being discarded without proper treatment and utilization. Boulders/Stones are present in abundance quantities near hills and mountains which have no practical importance. Construction demolition wastes are also good sources of fine and course aggregates which needs refinement and proper segregation to be used as a fresh construction material. This paper aims at studying the use of natural and industrial waste materials such as Fly-ash, Granite dust and locally available soil for production of sustainable Stone Masonry Blocks which means little or no damage to environment and able to continue for future generation. Stones selected from hills and mountains near the site shall be used in the manufacture of the blocks. The paper also aims at studying the effect of partial and complete replacement of conventional materials with waste materials in the block. As per BIS a compressive strength of 2MPa is sufficient for a block to be used as a masonry structure and the present research aims to provide a strength of more than 2Mpa in the block. Keywords - Natural and industrial waste, Stabilization, Stone masonry Block, Sustainable.
