Paper Title
Effect of Cathode Material Thickness on the Electrochemical Characteristics of Lithium-Ion Battery using 2-D Modeling

Abstract
Two-dimensional (2-D) modeling of half-cell lithium-ion battery has been carried out for a lithium-ion cell consisting of lithium metal as an anode, porous polymeric film as separator and olivine, LiMnPO4 type cathode material. The thickness of coated cathode material (LiMnPO4) has been varied to 120𝜇m, 140𝜇m, 150𝜇m, and 160 𝜇m using COMSOL Multiphysics@ software. The galvanostatic discharge of cells made of these four variable thicknesses of the cathode has been estimated in terms capacity of the battery. Therefore, the effect of electrode thickness on the capacity of the cells at different discharge rates such as 0.5C, 1C, 2C, 3C, and 4C has been obtained using the simulation. All the simulated results show good agreement with the reported experimental results in the literature. Hence, the results obtained in this study may be helpful for the optimization of the electrode thickness for the desired capacity of the lithium-ion battery according to their application.
