Paper Title
Electronic SCB Delay Detonator System For Mines

Abstract
Blasting is usually the first step in any mining process. Initiator is a term that is used in the explosive industry to describe any device that may be used to start a detonation in explosive. Detonators are compact devices that are designed to safely initiate and control the performance of larger explosive charges. They can be chemically, mechanically, or electrically initiated. There are various hazards associated with the electrical detonators like accidental initiation due to Electrostatic discharge or Radio frequency interference, improper firing of the circuit or problem in delay or logic of the circuit. Thus there was a need to develop a low energy, reliable and safe initiator in order to prevent catastrophes. Electro explosive devices are widely used in both civil and military sectors. Semiconductor bridge (SCB) detonator igniters are widely used as electro explosive device (EED) for the initiation of explosives and propellants in advanced ammunitions due to its most excellent performance, low all-fire energy (requires small quantities of electrical energy to function), fast function time (few micro sec), less weight, small volume, low cost, immunity to EMI (Electro-magnetic interference), ESD (Electrostatic discharge) and RF (Radio Frequency) hazards. In this paper we are presenting the design of miniature programmable SCB delay detonator. We aim for low power consumption and achieve miniaturization. The ESD and RF protection circuit provide safety against unintended firing. Detonators will be secured with passwords to avoid unauthorized use.
