Predicting Students’ School Engagement Using Artificial Neural Networks

Abstract
This study predicts the level of students’ school engagement based on school, family and demographic variables by using artificial neural networks. The population of the study is comprised of junior high school students who study at different middle schools in Elazığ during 2014-2015 academic year and their parents as well. Based on the results obtained from the analysis, there was positive and relatively high correlation between predicted values of school engagement by ANN and real values obtained from School Engagement Scale. This study was concluded that it is possible to predict the students’ school engagement by using artificial neural networks.
