Abstract : This paper presents which type of grasses is suitable for vegetative (grassed) water ways. Generally vegetative water ways is used to reducing the runoff velocity and to control the soil erosion with the help of grasses and legumes. The waterway will carry large fows, making suited to safely carry runoff from large upstream watersheds. The combination of vetivaria or chrosopogan zizanioids, venteveria lawsonii grasses and canna varieties legumes have a high efficiency to control the soil erosion and to reduce the runoff velocity greater than the Bermuda grass, buffalo grass, rye grass etc., Keywords - Grassed waterways, Design of waterways, Types of legumes, Types of grasses.
