Abstract : Abstract - Endometritis is considered a major problem of infertility in dairy animals. This study was carried out to evaluate the efficacy of orally administered tri-sodium citrate and vitamin-C for the treatment of endometritis in cattle under field conditions in Faisalabad. Sixty repeat breeder cows were screened out. All animals suffering from 1st-degree endometritis and were divided randomly into 4 equal groups: A, B, C, and D. The treatment of animals was initiated during di-estrus. Cows in group A were treated with 40gms Tri-sodium citrate/animal/day orally for 5 days, those group of B was administered 10gms Vit-C/animal/day for 5 days orally, while cows in group-C were given 10gms Vit-C in combination with 40gms Tri-sodium citrate/animal/day for 5 days orally while group-D were kept as control and were given intra-uterine infusion of Penbiotic® with kanamycin® at the dose rate of 5gms and 2gms per animal respectively per day for 5 days. Therapeutic response was assessed by uterine cytology examination, vaginal mucous discharge and trans-rectal uterine palpation. Post-treatment sampling was done at day 6 and 42. The data was subjected to statistical analysis through ANOVA, ROC and chi-square test. The recovery rate was significantly (P<0.001) higher in group D (80%) followed by group C (53.3%), group B (40%) and group A (26.6%).
