Abstract : The substantial goal of health care for adult people living with asthma is to control their asthma. The objective of this study was to identify relationship between social supportand asthma control among adult asthmatic patients in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The study focused on Asthma Control Questionnaire (ACQ). The Social Support was used to guide this study. The study was a cross sectional design involving 397 participants by simple random sampling at Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Each participants were self-administered regarding to structured questionnaires consisting of the demographic survey form, social support, and ACQ. Data were analyzed by Chi-Square. Main result found that age, gender, level of education and occupation were not significantly related to asthma control. Sufficient of income and social support had statistically positive relationship with asthma control. The study was suggested that community nurse should promote social support in nursing practices to increase and maintain asthma control status in adult asthmatic patients.
