Abstract : Thalassemia is a type of anaemia that can be passed on from parents to children, and the proper treatment is still in researched today. Thalassemia screening is one of the precautions that can be taken to reduce the prevalence of thalassemia. Research on the identification of thalassemia with the aid of computer systems began developing in line with technological advances. This paper shows the development of identification research of thalassemia by digital image processing. Main contribution of this paper is to provide a general overview of thalassemia identification process. Keywords- Thalassemia; segmentation; feature extraction; identification; red blood cell.
