Design Of PID Controlled Power System Stabilizer For Stability Studies Using Genetic Algorithm
This paper presents the design of a PID controlled Power System Stabilizer (PSS) for stabilization of power
systems. Both controllers have been designed for a single machine infinite bus system as well as for a two area interconnected
thermal-thermal power system. The controller parameters of both PID and PSS are tuned using genetic algorithm. Simulation
results are presented to show the effectiveness of the controllers in stabilizing the power system oscillations.
