Compact Planar Directive YAGI Antenna For WLAN Application

Abstract
In this paper, a compact planar directive antenna is presented for WLAN applications. The planar directive antenna is Yagi-Uda which is designed to operate at 5 GHz frequency band and has compact size of 24 mm x 30 mm. An integrated balun in the form of microstrip-to-coplanar strips (CPS) transition is used to feed the proposed printed Yagi-Uda antenna. The substrate material used is FR4 of dielectric constant 4.4 and thickness 1.6mm. The proposed antenna design presents measured bandwidths of 1.457 GHz for VSWR < 2 and with moderate gain of 5 dBi.
