Abstract : This paper presents a 3 degrees of freedom (3-DOF) synchronization scheme for a deep space formation of spacecraft. In the design, which is referred to as a mutual synchronization scheme, feedback interconnections are designed in such a way that the spacecrafts track a time varying reference trajectory while at the same time keep a prescribed position. The goal is to have the position of each spacecraft track a desired trajectory, and maintain synchronization with other formation members.
