Paper Title
Study on Reading Human’s Intention and Environment for Automatic Switching between Cell Phone and Remote Control
Abstract
This study introduces an automatic switching algorithm that allows a cell phone to function as a remote control.
The algorithm is for reading users’ intentions by recognizing their body gestures through checking the tilt angle of the cell
phone and the ratio of the face to the total image area captured. It also includes an environment reading algorithm that aids
cell phone’s reliable decision-making process of switching between remote control and cell phone modes. The results from
experimentation show that cell phone can be successfully used as a gesture activated remote control with a low false
switching rate less than 3%.
