An Autonomous Fire Alarm System on Resource Constraints IoT Environment

Abstract
Fire accident consequences will be devastating. So, at any cost, fire accidents should be eliminated completely. For this, this paper proposes an autonomous fire alarm system for Internet of things (IoT) based home network system, which provides real-time fire alarm by detecting smoke in resource-constrained environment. The key significance in this paper is to provide real-time fire alarm in poor environment where the stability of electricity and Internet is not assured such as developing counties. The system is mainly developed on light-weight hardware like Raspberry Pi and Arduino Uno for considering electricity constraints and network constraints. After data collection from sensors on Arduino, backend server or home server alerts fire depending on the collected and analyzed data, which has four different levels of alarm stages. The proposed system works very well in the harsh environments. Keywords—Blackout, Fire alarm, Internet of things, Resource constraints
