Study on Bone Plate with Curved Contact Surface by using 3D-finite Element Analysis
Abstract - The objective of this research is to study the behavior of a bone plate implant with 10° curvature in the middle. The three-dimensional geometry is designed using CAD, followed by software simulation. The simulation result is analyzed and compared between the flat and the curved plate. It is discovered that the curved plate suffers 9% less deformation, 15-20% lower strain, and 4% fewer shear, with 5% lower maximum stress, in comparison to the flat plate, thus is better than the flat plate in terms of both strength and stability, with also an improvement in stress shielding effect.
