Climate Change Threat Assessment to Marine Environment: A Multi-Attribute Framework Approach
Abstract
Using data extracted from the 2013 National Saltwater Angler Survey, this study examined saltwater anglers’
responses to the climate change threat to marine environment in a multi-attribute framework. Using the form of the Likerttype
scale ranging from arbitrarily low to high values in some ordered form, the ordered logit model was employed. The
empirical results suggested that saltwater anglers’ age, gender, certain income level, certain education level, and region were
the important factors influencing the self-selection preferences of climate change threat to marine environment. The results
of this study may provide baseline information about saltwater anglers’ understanding towards marine environmental threats
due to climate change that should be targets for marine fisheries management campaign.
