Motivational Factors in Learning History at School
Abstract
Students' motivation of learning is influenced by the assumption that learning history tends to be boring because
the majority studies facts, figures, years, and events. Student motivation of learning is related to student learning outcomes.
History subjects have an essential role to learn, because they discuss various events of the past. This study discusses what
factors increase students' motivation to learn history at school. This study applied the literature review method through five
steps. First, identify the research question. Second, collect relevant sources. Third, verify relevant sources. Fourth,
interpreting based on the sources. Fifth, write an interpretation of the factors that increase students' motivation to learn
history. The study obtained 15 articles from 2019-2023. Based on the results of the study, the factors that contribute to
increasing students' motivation to learn history are through the application of various learning methods and media in
accordance with the subject matter taught and by adjusting the conditions of students' needs. Thus, students' motivation to
learn history increases and students get to achieve positive learning outcomes.
