Abstract : In this study experiments in laboratory tanks with vegetation bed are performedfor the investigation of the effect
of cross sectional shape on the movement of gravity currents. For this reason a series of experiments for rectangular and
composite (upper rectangular and lower trapezoidal) cross-section are carried out. The results show that the different crosssection
influences significantly the motion and the front velocity of gravity currents.
