Home Automation using Internet of Things

Abstract
Technological advancements have been growing exponentially, particularly in the automation industry. This has led many individuals to prefer completely automated systems that can make lives more convenient. As more people use the internet, a new technology known as the Internet of Things has emerged, which can make life much easier in various aspects of our lives via the internet. This paper presents a prototype of a smart home that uses wifi technology and the Nodemcu microcontroller. Sensors such as temperature, ultrasonic, clap, flame and IR are integrated to control home appliances. The paper also highlights how mobile devices and laptops can be used to control home appliances, and how automating home appliances can enhance the security aspects of the smart home.
