Abstract : High-speed railway (HSR) environments present significant challenges for wireless communications due to
effects such as Doppler shifts and inter-carrier interference (ICI). Multiple input multiple output (MIMO) orthogonal
frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is a promising technology to address these issues. However, specialized signal
processing techniques are required to mitigate ICI in MIMO-OFDM HSR systems. This paper provides a comprehensive
review of adaptive interference mitigation schemes for MIMO-OFDM in HSR channels. Both time-domain and frequencydomain
techniques are examined, including methods leveraging multiple antennas to suppress ICI. Self-adaptive approaches
that tune parameters based on channel conditions are highlighted. Tradeoffs between performance, complexity, and
parameter selection are discussed. Results from simulation studies and field trials are summarized to compare the
effectiveness of different ICI cancellation schemes. Open issues and promising directions for future research are also
identified. The review provides valuable insights to inform the design and optimization of MIMO-OFDM systems for next
generation high-speed rail networks.
